Dr. Frank Odoom had his initial university education at the University of Cape Coast after which he was awarded a Fulbright-Hays Scholarship to Iowa State University in the USA where he obtained a PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1988. He later obtained an MSc degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Manitoba in Canada in 1994. Dr. Odoom’s vast work experience spans across many years and mostly linked with Consultancy in Actuarial Practices, and Social Security Administration and Governance. This includes; • Senior Pension and Insurance Expert – African Union, September 2017 – December 2019 • Director General of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) - February 2010 to June 2013. • Chief Executive Officer of Quality Insurance Company Limited - April 2002 to January 2010. • General Manager (Technical) and Chief Actuary at SSNIT - 2000 to 2001. • Senior Management and Actuary at SSNIT - 1989 to 1999 He has had stints with a number of Universities in a lectureship capacity along the way which includes; • University of Cape Coast in Ghana, 1988 • University of Manitoba in Canada, (Sessional Lecturer) 1994 • Drake University in USA, (Adjunct Lecturer) 1987; and • Des Moines Area Community College in USA, (Temporary Lecturer) 1986 - 1988 Dr. Frank Odoom has also provided consultancy services in the areas of Retirement Pension Plans, and Actuarial Valuation of Social Security Programs in Ghana and abroad. Dr. Odoom during his enviable professional career has attended, participated and made presentations at several international and local conferences on Insurance and Social Security for Actuaries and Statisticians under the auspices of the International Social Security Association and other Professional Associations. He was a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society, UK and a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of Ghana, of which he was its President from 2004 to 2008 and currently a Member of the Council of Elders. Dr. Frank Odoom had previously served on several boards including the following: • Member – Quality Insurance Company Ltd, April 2002 to January 2010 • Non-Executive Director - Ghana International Bank, London, 2010 to 2013 • Member - African World Airlines, 2012 to 2013 • Member - Sentuo Steel Company, 2011 to 2013 • Council Member – Ghana Stock Exchange, 2011 to 2013 • Council Member - Governing Council, Ghana Insurance College, 2006 to 2010 • Member – Quality Life Assurance Company Ltd, 2007 to 2009 He is currently serving on the following boards; • Member - AIESEC Advisory Council • Member – World Trade Center, Accra • Non-Executive Director of Unique Insurance Company Ltd • Non-Executive Director of Mainstream Reinsurance Company Ltd Dr. Odoom is currently retired from formal employment but works as Consultant.
